THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

How our club works

Meetings

Weekly meetings are held in a private meeting room at the Garden Cafe on Tuesdays from 7:00am to 7:45am. A buffet breakfast is served which includes coffee, juices, cereal, fruit, toast, eggs, pancakes, french toast, and/or cinnamon rolls. Members eat breakfast and socialize until around 7:15 when the meeting is brought to order by the president. Following the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer led by one of our member, club business is discussed and announcements are made. At around 7:30, a speaker is introduced and has around 20 minutes to address the group on the day's current topic. When the speaker is finished, the meeting is adjourned by the president.

Each Rotarian is responsible for inviting a speaker twice per year.

Meetings are NOT held on holidays or if a Tuesday follows a weekend holiday or a Monday holiday.

Attendance

Rotary works because of its members. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged. As a club, our goal is for an overall average of 70% attendance at each meeting. So if you can make 3 out of 4 meetings per month, we can easily meet that goal. Rotarians with greater than 75% attendance receive a discount on the breakfast fee.

Other Activities

The Hastings Sunrise Rotary Club prides itself on community involvement. Occasionally throughout the year you may volunteer to participate in our flag-for-a-day fundraiser or other community projects that our club decides to pursue. This participation is voluntary buy everyone is encouraged to participate.

Dues and Fees

Current yearly Rotary dues are $120.00. Breakfast costs $5.50 per meal which can be paid annually ($5.50 x 52 meetings = $286/year), biannually, or quarterly. Breakfast discounts are available with attendance of 75% or greater. In addition to these financial obligations, other occasions may arise where you will have the opportunity to support projects or activities that may require funding outside of our normal operating budget.

THE FOUR WAY TEST:

Is it the truth?

Is it fair to all concerned?

Will it build good will and better friendships?

Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
